We judge a book by it's cover.
I
would like to start with a quote by Steve Cosgroves. “Never judge someone by
the way he looks or a book by the way it's covered; for inside those tattered
pages, there's a lot to be discovered.”
Yes, we do, we do judge a book by its cover, but we
shouldn’t do that.
Judging a book by its cover is being judgemental, judging
without knowing the full story.
We are so quick to assume a person on the way they are
dressed or their appearance, but do you really know what is going on? In a
video by Dhar Mann, a real estate manager judges a man who is poorly dressed
and tells his colleague that the man won’t be able to afford the house and goes
to a woman who is dressed in designer clothes but when its time to pay for the
house the woman says ‘do you really think I would be able to afford this house?
All that I am wearing is not mine’ and the manager is shocked, but man pulls
out a bag of money and shows the manager that you should never be so quick to
judge a person by appearance.
Judging a person on whether they are thin, or fat is
wrong too. If I judge a girl by how fat she is and say that her fatness won’t
take her anywhere in life is wrong, I don’t know the full story and therefore I
shouldn’t judge her.
In a story called Dusk by Saki, Norman Gortsby judges a
young man, fairly well dressed and thinks that he is an honest man, but he was
proved wrong, this man cheats him so he could get some money. And the moral of
the story is that not everyone can be a good judge of people despite all their
experience.
I have seen people judge rich people and think their
lives are perfect because of their fame and money, but behind those smiling
faces, there is a story, yet to be uncovered.
Now it just doesn’t end at judging. We also get
influenced by people in maybe a wrong way, we should not get influenced by
whether a person is fat or thin, or whether they wear designer clothes or not,
we should get influenced by their personality, we should get influenced by who
they are on the inside.
Sometimes before judging a person on their looks think
about how you would feel if someone judged you, and at that moment you will
think its fine, and say I wouldn’t mind if someone judged me but when it does
happen to you, you will realise that it is not fair.
Honestly, outer appearance doesn’t matter until you are
pure from within, Beauty is within you, not outside you. To conclude I would
like to say a person should not be judged on their fame, looks or money, they
should be judged on their personality because that is who they are. What you do
comes back to you, so be kind to everyone.
This is a very thoughtful and true composition. Keep it up ! 👏👏
